Dringende beroep op verbruikers - Urgent appeal to consumers
Urgent appeal to consumers
The agricultural community of Mpumalanga was shaken again this past Sunday by a senseless and brutal farm murder. Mpumalanga Agriculture expresses our deepest sympathy and condolences to the next of kin of the deceased. As in the past, this farm murder is strongly condemned. Thanks to everyone who cooperated in arresting the suspects within a few hours.
Mpumalanga Agriculture once again, as many times before, making an urgent appeal to the authorities to bring the alarming levels of crime and specifically violent crime in the rural areas under control.
With every farm killing, food security is put at risk. Agricultural producers can no longer take sole responsibility for food security in South Africa. Mpumalanga Agriculture therefore urgently appeals to every consumer to take also responsibility for maintaining food security in our country.
If our consumers want to eat tomorrow, they will have to help protect the farmer’s life today.
Consumers are therefore requested to pass on all possible information, related to crime and planned crime, to local security structures. Furthermore, consumers are requested to strongly condemn inflammatory statements and hate speech by public figures towards farmers. Those who are guilty of such behavior must be called to order by the consumer.
Together we can ensure that every citizen has a plate of food on the table tomorrow.
